Awkward Hug
The other day I was on my way to an event in University City. I spot a neighbor I’m cool with while waiting for the bus. We have this running joke between us stemming from two winters ago when he shoveled the front of my house and I promised him spaghetti. Why I would promise this dude a pot of spaghetti when I’ve messed up add water Kraft mac and cheese is beyond me. Anyway, when we see each other we chat, laugh, and move along with our lives.
This day, he just had to make it awkward.
When he came over to me, he got closer and decided it was a good idea to go in for a hug. You’re probably asking, “Well Val, did you hug him before?” or “Were you in an open position to make it seem like you wanted a hug?” Hell to the nawl.
Everything went so fast so when he went in for the hug, I arm bumped him. Yes, in front of about 8 or 9 people also waiting for the bus, I arm bumped this man while rejecting his hug, and giving forced, weird laughter. It was so effin awkward I could have ran down the street.

Philadelphia Mayor, Michael Nutter, was not here for Mitt Romney and his failed attempt at connecting with urban areas of Philadelphia. As a Philadelphian, I may not agree with the Mayor %100 of the time, but he was correct in his assessment on Romney’s “discovery of West Philly”. President Obama always comes here with intent and purpose when he visits, clearly stating his intentions.

So….I was up late last night with the television on…..and you already know this is going downhill already. I flipped through channels and came across Jerry Springer. First, I didn’t know Jerry Springer came on at 2AM. Second, I didn’t know it could get any more ridiculous. This is a snippet of the episode I watched last night. Jerry came up I guess. Dancers and DJs. Weird.
